We need to Bring Pink Tide to the United States
Pink Tide the Latin American movement that brought Hugo Chavez to power in Venezuela and President Lula de Silva in Brazil needs to be brought here to the United States.
Latin America's 'pink tide' may have hit its high-water mark
Dramatic elections in Brazil, Chile and Colombia brought leftist governments into power across much of Latin America in…www.reuters.com
Here is why in Latin American countries when Pink Tide happened there is a sense that the leaders would improve conditions to the people and end neoliberal policies. The Pink Tide politicians appealed to the voters with a promise of Tax reforms, income inequality and land reforms. They appealed to the previously underrepresented. However, once commodities values fall, corruption, US sanctions threat and actual and an economic downturn takes place, then the movement goes down the tubes and a new leader will take their spot to go in the opposite direction as in turn to the right. However when we turn to the right a disaster happens like lost of social services. Then again we need to hold people like Lula de Silva to be with the people and not wander off to cronies if we want to bring the Pink Tide movement to the United States. In able to do this we must call for more people to vote in primaries and put the right people into office. We must also make sure the leaders do not spiral out of control like what happened to President Maduro of Venezuela and stop demagogues from taking office. Also we must use the 2026 midterm elections to spark a Pink Tide movement here in the United States to show we will hold corporations to account and stop counting them as people. We must get these types of people in Congress, state legislatures and Governors offices in place before the 2028 elections for President. This is a long term goal here and not one bad short term decision.
